Angelo was born on the island of Venice in the mid 1940s, the youngest of seven siblings. At the age of ten his father decided it was time for the young Angelo to begin in the glass trade, and he apprenticed for some time under the Venetian masters.
Glass blowing began with the Venetian merchants in the early 1000s, who, after making beach fires realized the malleability of hot glass. Venice quickly became the glass capital of the world, but after too many fires the trade was moved to the nearby island of Murano in 1290.
Angelo works strictly with tools from Murano, and only with the finest glass. All of his pieces are mouth blown and hand shaped—whimsical, classical, masterful. Angelo is a true magician with glass.
